The Psychological Center's Driver Alcohol Education Program is a comprehensive treatment program for those clients who have been adjudicated for first offense DUI (driving under the influence). The goal of the program is to provide an educational experience related to substance abuse and its effect on driving and other life problems. Our hope is to raise the client's awareness and to influence behavioral changes, thereby lowering the risk for any future DUI and/or other substance abuse related problems.

Orientation for enrollment into the program is held on Monday nights at 5:30. Program content is as follows:

• One individual intake session
• 32 hours of psycho-educational group sessions (one -two hour session each week for 16 weeks)
• 2 hours of a victim impact forum
• 4 hours of attendance at a community based self-help meeting
• One individual discharge session

The cost of the program is $567.22. Payment is as follows:

  $250 due at the time of orientation
  $150 due the 2nd week of classes
  $167.22 due on the 9th week of classes

This program is state approved and may be used to fulfill the requirements of other states with comparable DUI programs.
